Description

Now Accepting Deposits for Our First 2025 Litter – Angus X Mae

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting deposits for our first litter of 2025 from FTCH Drumgoose Ironman (Angus) x HR Ellie Mae Rose of SOK (Mae).

About Angus (FTCH Drumgoose Ironman)

Angus is a stunning dark fox red male with a strong, muscular build and an exceptional pedigree. His sire is INT Levenghyl Malusi, and his dam is INT FTCH The Newcam Boss, who produced outstanding offspring, including INT FTCH Drumgoose Warlord (Murph).

Angus is the definition of a true champion—calm and steady until sent for a retrieve, where he showcases incredible speed, drive, and precision. His owner/handler describes him as a once-in-a-lifetime dog with a personality that makes him unforgettable. He is friendly, eager to please, and a joy to work with.

About Mae (HR Ellie Mae Rose of SOK)

Mae is a powerful, 56-lb red Lab with a muscular frame. She is one of our top-performing hunting dogs and spent the 2023-2024 season as a guide dog in North Texas, impressing clients with her obedience and impeccable marking ability. She thrives in the field, excelling in pheasant tower shoots and water retrieves with a strong, stylish water entry.

Mae is calm and steady on the line but shifts into high gear when it’s time to work. She has an incredible ability to mark long-distance birds, taking a direct line there and back. Her strong drive, intelligence, and loyalty make her a standout both in the field and at home.

Her sire, HRCH Lettergreen Bowled Over (Hank), has even been featured on the hunting show The Grind.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
